Background
The University of Cape Town Lung Infection (UCT-LII) will be hosting the M/XDR-TB Conference on 27-29 March 2020. More details on the speakers will be made available in due course.
Scope
The purpose of the M/XDR-TB Conference 2020 is to provide clinically orientated practical guidelines for clinicians, healthcare workers and scientists in Africa interested in management, policies and intervention strategies related to extensive drug resistant TB. The course usually run across 2.5 days and it will aim to have one day dedicated to basic science. In general, the course will focus on improving the quality of patient care through the training and teaching of clinicians, healthcare workers and scientists on the diagnosis, treatment and management of drug resistant TB with the specific focus on:
1. Clinical and molecular epidemiology of DR TB and how it influences practice and policy.
2. The clinical and laboratory diagnosis of DR-TB in the 21st century.
3. Resistance beyond XDR-TB, what, how and where to from here?
4. Public health implications of DR-TB.
5. Preventing Transmission.
